A sophisticated emergency plan
Our well thought-out emergency plan ensures maximum safety and reliability in our battery logistics. We use innovative solutions to identify risks early and manage them appropriately.
What happens in the event of a fire?
We implement the highest safety standards possible in our warehouse in order to minimise risks like fires, leaks or explosions during battery storage. The batteries are stored in fireproof and well-ventilated areas. Temperature monitoring systems and special extinguishing installations provide additional protection. Our trained personnel are prepared for emergencies and take part in regular training exercises to make sure that they can always react to serious incidents as quickly as possible. Every incident is documented and analysed, allowing us to continuously improve our processes. This way, we can ensure the safety of people, the environment and materials at all times.
Optimised battery logistics with the LiioBox
The LiioBox has revolutionised our lithium-ion battery logistics with increased safety and efficiency. Thanks to its robust stainless steel design and innovative filling material, it offers optimal protection against thermal risks and mechanical effects. It can be used to transport and store batteries even more safely and flexibly, even when taking on more challenging ADR transportation tasks. With the LiioBox, we can minimise risks, efficiently meet legal requirements and improve the handling of batteries in logistics in the long-term.
Modern extinguishing installation
Our extremely modern sprinkler system has been specially designed to meet battery logistics requirements and allows for a precise, zone-specific control. In the event of an incident, the installation can be used in specific areas to effectively fight fires without impacting the entire warehouse. This minimises damage and ensures maximum control in the event of a serious incident. The sprinkler installation is fed by a 1-million-litre water tank installed on the building that provides a continuous supply of water. The warehouse itself has been designed as a safety pan to securely catch any leaking liquids. This helps to stop the uncontrolled leaking of potentially dangerous substances in a targeted way and so prevent groundwater contamination.
Example of an emergency process
1. Report
The thermal imaging drone continuously monitors the condition of the batteries. If it detects an unusual change or potentially dangerous situations, it immediately issues an alarm signal. This early identification allows us to take the necessary steps and minimise potential damage quickly.
2. Extinguish (if necessary)
If the reported situation results in a fire, this is tackled in a targeted way. The extinguishing work is done zone-by-zone to ensure an effective control of the fire and reduce overall damages to a minimum. Specially developed procedures and equipment is used here to tackle battery fires.
3. Quarantine
Once the emergency situation has been dealt with, the affected battery is immediately transferred to the LiioBox. This box serves as a secure quarantine zone to avoid further risks and a controlled environment for the damaged batteries.
4. Removal
The batteries are securely removed in the LiioBox. Depending on the customer’s requirements, the batteries are either then safely disposed of or returned to them. The entire removal transport process meets the highest safety standards and ensures a safe handling of the damaged battery.
Our emergency box
Liio-Box with BAM-15854
Safely transported
Defective, damaged and critical cells, modules and batteries can be transported safely.
Tracked
The box can be located at any time thanks to the GPS tracking.
Securely locked
The box is locked on all sides, so that nothing can escape and it is accessible from all sides, lockable and stackable.
Strong material
The box has a stainless steel pan to catch any liquids like electrolytes that might leak out. It can withstand outside temperatures of up to 52°C, but temperatures inside the box can reach up to 1240°C.
